FOUNDER’S BIRTHDAY

The Founder’s Birthday celebration in Kandivazhi, a tribal village in Anaikatti, embodied the Founder’s commitment to social inclusivity and community empowerment. The event brought together 120 beneficiaries, including children and elders, to foster unity and address local challenges such as limited access to education and recreational opportunities. Highlights included a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, engaging games for children and elders, the distribution of 40 school bags with essential educational supplies, and a community lunch provided by BTG Trust. This initiative strengthened the organization’s connection with the community, promoting joy, support, and continued investment in the well-being and development of Kandivazhi’s tribal population.

AWARENESS GENERATION – Kindness Day 2024

On 13th November 2024, BTG Trust celebrated Kindness Day at Race Course, Coimbatore, with an engaging community event that drew over 500 participants. The initiative aimed to promote empathy, compassion, and reflection on the power of everyday kindness. Participants of all ages shared personal stories of kindness, creating a ripple of inspiration throughout the event. A special BTG Trust Kindness Frame offered a memorable photo opportunity, capturing the spirit of the day. To mark the occasion, smiley stress relief balls were distributed, serving as cheerful reminders of the joy found in small, thoughtful gestures. The event highlighted BTG Trust’s continued commitment to building a more compassionate society through community-driven engagement.

AWARENESS GENERATION – CHILDREN’S DAY 2024

BTG Trust marked Children’s Day 2024 with a unique Fingerprint Awareness Campaign at Race Course, Coimbatore, aimed at promoting child safety and community responsibility. The event engaged over 500 participants, highlighting the importance of creating a secure environment for every child. A central feature of the campaign was the Fingerprint Pledge Wall, where individuals placed colorful fingerprints as a symbolic commitment to protecting children. Informational pamphlets on child safety and BTG Trust’s welfare initiatives were distributed, while volunteers facilitated interactive sessions on online safety, open communication, and recognizing signs of abuse. Children enjoyed storytelling sessions, while parents and guardians actively participated in Q&A discussions. The event reinforced collective awareness, community action, and BTG Trust’s mission to safeguard childhood.

HOPE IN ACTION – National Children’s Day Celebration and Educational Support at Anganwadi

On 11th November 2024, BTG Trust conducted the Hope in Action initiative at the Anganwadi centre, engaging 27 young children in a day of creativity and learning. Educational kits containing crayons, storybooks, and pencils were distributed to support early literacy and artistic expression. Interactive storytelling and hands-on activities like colouring encouraged imagination, cognitive development, and joyful participation. The initiative aimed to create an enriching environment that nurtures holistic growth and celebrates the potential of every child.

HOPE IN ACTION – School Health & Nutrition Awareness Program

On November 2024, BTG Trust conducted the Hope in Action – Health and Nutrition Awareness program at Chinnathadagam Union Primary School, reaching 92 students. The initiative addressed key health concerns, revealing that 72 students were underweight. In response, BTG Trust provided the school with weight and height measuring machines to support regular health monitoring. A nutritional awareness session was conducted for students, teachers, and parents, emphasizing the importance of balanced diets using locally available, affordable foods. Practical dietary recommendations and meal planning tips were also shared. The program fostered collaboration among educators and the community to promote long-term nutrition and health awareness, ensuring sustainable support for students’ well-being.

HOPE IN ACTION – SAFE DAYS

On 18th October 2024, BTG Trust, under the Hope in action #SafeDays initiative, installed a sanitary napkin vending machine at Government Higher Secondary School, Karamadai, benefiting over 500 girl students. Aligned with World Menopause Day, the project emphasizes the importance of menstrual hygiene from adolescence as a foundation for long-term women’s health. This intervention ensures consistent access to essential hygiene products, supports school attendance, and promotes open dialogue around menstrual health. The initiative reflects BTG Trust’s broader commitment to women’s well-being across all life stages.

EDU PLAY – Day With Tribal Children

BTG Trust organized the EDUPLAY Project on 17th September 2024 at Seengali, Anaikatti, benefiting 32 tribal children. This initiative aimed to foster holistic development through a blend of creative expression and life skill awareness. Children participated in drawing, singing, and dancing competitions, while interactive sessions promoted key topics like time management, hygiene, and health. Fun games and cultural activities boosted confidence and teamwork, encouraging self-expression and social interaction. Motivational talks and community collaboration further reinforced the importance of education and well-being, empowering children to dream beyond limitations.

HANDMADE HEROINES 8 – Silk Thread Jewellery Making workshop

On September 6, 2024, a one-day Silk Thread Jewellery Making workshop was successfully conducted at Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College, empowering 17 women and adolescent girls from underserved communities. This training was specifically designed to provide hands-on, income-generating skills that require minimal investment and can be pursued from home. The workshop aimed to nurture creativity, build self-confidence, and introduce entrepreneurship fundamentals through practical skill-building. Participants learned how to craft elegant bangles, earrings, hair accessories, and decorative clips using vibrant silk threads and basic tools. With step-by-step guidance from experienced trainers, each participant was able to complete finished products by the end of the session. The training highlighted key aspects of the jewellery-making process including material selection, color coordination, product finishing, and festive design planning. In addition to the crafting techniques, participants were introduced to marketing strategies such as pricing, local sales, participation in exhibitions, and leveraging online platforms. The session emphasized the importance of customer preferences and encouraged participants to think creatively while also understanding commercial viability. This beginner-friendly initiative not only introduced a potential livelihood option but also fostered self-reliance among the women. Many participants expressed increased confidence and enthusiasm toward exploring micro-entrepreneurship opportunities. This program is part of a larger effort to promote sustainable livelihoods for women and youth in slum areas through creative and practical training. Participant feedback highlighted the engaging and productive nature of the workshop, with many eager to pursue advanced training. Overall, the Silk Thread Jewellery Making workshop served as a stepping stone toward self-employment and financial independence, transforming a traditional craft into a meaningful source of income and empowerment.

Transformation Journey

Ms. JANANI -Transformation Journey

Janani, a student from Avinashlingam University, joined the Basic to Advanced Mehendi Class at BTG Trust with little prior knowledge of Mehendi. After completing the course, she gained the skills to create beautiful and intricate designs, which helped her start her own Mehendi business through online platform. The classes provided not only technical skills but also business insights, such as pricing, client handling, and marketing, which enabled her to earn a steady income. Janani balanced her studies and entrepreneurship, thanks to the platform provided by BTG Trust. She is grateful for the support and guidance she received throughout the course. Janani recommends this class to others, as it helped her turn her passion into a sustainable career. Her success story highlights the impact of our training in empowering women to become self-sufficient entrepreneurs. We are proud of her achievements.

HANDMADE HEROINES 7 – Silk Thread Jewellery Making Training

The two-day Silk Thread Jewellery Making training, held on August 16 and 17, 2024, at the BTG Trust Office, was designed to empower 10 women participants, primarily homemakers and students, with creative, income-generating skills. This initiative focused on equipping participants with hands-on knowledge to craft elegant bangles, earrings, hair accessories, and decorative clips using vibrant silk threads and basic tools. The training introduced the fundamentals of color coordination, design planning, and customer preferences, especially for festive and bridal collections. It aimed to boost confidence and creativity while promoting home-based entrepreneurship. On Day 1, participants were introduced to the silk thread craft as a viable livelihood option, with detailed demonstrations guiding them through each step of making jewelry and accessories. They also learned essential design principles, material sourcing, and finishing techniques to enhance product quality. On Day 2, the focus shifted to making intricate hair accessories like clips and bands, with attention to quality control, embellishment techniques, and appropriate material selection. The training also included sessions on pricing strategies, cost analysis, and understanding market demand to help participants set competitive rates for their creations. The entrepreneurial component of the workshop encouraged women to consider selling their products at exhibitions, local markets, and through online platforms. Many participants expressed enthusiasm about pursuing advanced training and exploring micro-business opportunities. The initiative successfully combined creativity with practical business insight, enabling participants to visualize a sustainable source of income from home. The workshop served as a stepping stone toward inclusive economic development by nurturing self-reliance and fostering entrepreneurial spirit. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with participants stating they felt more confident and capable of transforming their artistic abilities into profitable ventures. The training reaffirmed the value of grassroots-level skill-building programs in creating meaningful livelihood opportunities for underserved women.
