HOPE IN ACTION – School Health & Nutrition Awareness Program

On November 2024, BTG Trust conducted the Hope in Action – Health and Nutrition Awareness program at Chinnathadagam Union Primary School, reaching 92 students. The initiative addressed key health concerns, revealing that 72 students were underweight. In response, BTG Trust provided the school with weight and height measuring machines to support regular health monitoring. A nutritional awareness session was conducted for students, teachers, and parents, emphasizing the importance of balanced diets using locally available, affordable foods. Practical dietary recommendations and meal planning tips were also shared. The program fostered collaboration among educators and the community to promote long-term nutrition and health awareness, ensuring sustainable support for students’ well-being.

HOPE IN ACTION – SAFE DAYS

On 18th October 2024, BTG Trust, under the Hope in action #SafeDays initiative, installed a sanitary napkin vending machine at Government Higher Secondary School, Karamadai, benefiting over 500 girl students. Aligned with World Menopause Day, the project emphasizes the importance of menstrual hygiene from adolescence as a foundation for long-term women’s health. This intervention ensures consistent access to essential hygiene products, supports school attendance, and promotes open dialogue around menstrual health. The initiative reflects BTG Trust’s broader commitment to women’s well-being across all life stages.

CARE FOR ALL – Free Medical Camp

On July 28th, 2024, BTG Trust (formerly Liferay Foundation), in collaboration with KMCH (Kovai Medical Center and Hospital) and Exterro’s CSR wing “Exterro Gives Back”, organized a free medical camp at the Kalapatti Primary School, Coimbatore. The initiative aimed to provide quality healthcare services to the underprivileged and rural population of Kalapatti Panchayat, an area where access to regular medical care is limited. The camp focused on preventive diagnostics and general health screening, targeting a beneficiary count of approximately 80+ residents. Residents received general health check-ups, diagnostic services, and consultations with medical specialists. This outreach is part of BTG Trust’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life in underserved communities. Many residents of Kalapatti are daily wage workers who often delay medical attention due to financial and logistical constraints. By bringing healthcare directly to the community, the camp bridged critical access gaps. The event was graced by Mr. Vijayakumar, Councillor of Kalapatti, as Guest of Honour, and Mrs. Maari Selvi, Head Master of GHSS Kalapatti, as the Chief Guest. Their presence inspired community participation and reinforced the importance of proactive healthcare. The medical camp was conducted smoothly from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a large turnout and positive feedback from the public. Volunteers, medical staff, and organizers worked in unison to ensure a professional and compassionate approach. The program reinforced the value of community partnerships in driving impact. Residents appreciated the convenience, care, and quality of services offered. This medical camp is a testimony to BTG Trust’s mission of inclusive health initiatives and was a successful step toward a healthier Kalapatti.

CARE FOR ALL – Medical Camp 4

BTG Trust successfully organized Medical Camp – 4 at Government Primary School, Chinnathadagam in December 2023. This initiative aimed to provide accessible and cost-effective healthcare services to underserved communities. With KMCH Hospital, Coimbatore as the medical partner, the camp served around 150 beneficiaries. The camp focused on preventive care, diagnostic tests, and general health screenings. Chinnathadagam, a panchayat with over 5000 people, lacks easy access to healthcare facilities. Many residents are daily wage workers from underprivileged and tribal backgrounds. The camp helped bridge the healthcare gap caused by poor transport and medical access. BTG’s effort ensured that medical services reached those who need them most. This intervention promoted community health and early detection of health issues. It reflects our commitment to holistic well-being and inclusive development.

CARE FOR ALL – Medical Camp – 2

On October 21, 2022, BTG Trust conducted a baseline health survey in 24 Veerapandi village to assess the prevailing health conditions and medical awareness among residents. Using a structured questionnaire, the study revealed that a significant portion of the population suffers from skin diseases, allergies, and respiratory issues, with many not receiving adequate treatment. Based on the findings—where 47% requested general check-ups, 21% opted for dust allergy support, and 3.4% for eye check-ups—the Foundation planned a targeted medical camp focused on skin, lung, and general health care. This initiative reflects BTG Trust’s ongoing commitment to community health and wellbeing.

Supa Hospital provided medical infrastructure and professional support, ensuring a safe and efficient donation process, while Thendral Trust managed volunteer coordination and local arrangements. The drive was supported by a comprehensive awareness campaign to encourage community participation. Volunteers engaged donors throughout the event, making the experience positive and encouraging ongoing social contribution. On June 25, 2022, BTG Trust, with support from Exterro Gives Back, launched HopeInAction at Government Higher Secondary School, Kalappatti, Coimbatore. The project involved installing a sanitary napkin vending machine to support menstrual hygiene among school girls. This initiative benefits over 600 female students, ensuring access to essential hygiene products. The goal is to reduce school absenteeism due to menstrual issues and promote dignity and comfort. By making sanitary napkins easily accessible, the project empowers girls to manage their periods confidently. It also aims to break the stigma surrounding menstruation through awareness and open dialogue. The initiative highlights the importance of menstrual health from adolescence to adulthood. It fosters a supportive school environment for girls to discuss health-related concerns. BTG Trust continues to promote women’s health, education, and empowerment. HopeInAction is a step toward building healthier, more informed communities.

CARE FOR ALL – Medical Camp 1

BTG Trust, dedicated to supporting underprivileged communities, conducted a free medical camp in Kurumbapalayam, Madukkarai, on 12th June 2022. The camp was held at Government Elementary School from 9 AM to 1 PM. Kurumbapalayam is a remote village affected by air pollution due to a nearby cement factory. Despite being semi-urban, the residents lack awareness of health risks, especially respiratory issues. The camp offered free general, skin, and lung capacity check-ups along with medications. Dr. N. Mageshwaran and a team of three nurses from Supa Hospital provided medical support. Cipla Pharmaceuticals assisted with spirometry tests to assess lung function. Exterro R&D Pvt Ltd assisted with providing volunteer support. A total of 105 villagers registered and benefited from the initiative. The camp helped raise awareness about pollution-related health concerns. BTG continues to organize monthly camps to improve rural health and community well-being.
